Imaging USA Part II

I just got back from ImagingUSA in Nashville. It was an incredible experience. Not only did I have the opportunity to participate in seminars led by some of the greatest photographers in the industry, but I actually got to have conversations with these people and ask specific questions. I knew I would learn a ton, but I had no idea how much valuable information I would actually receive.

One of the highlights of the entire conference was getting the chance to see and hear 3 White House photographers share their images and experiences from documenting the latest 3 presidents. One of these photographers, who we actually had a lengthy conversation with, was Robert McNeely, who photographed the Clinton administration. I’ve always said that a dream job/assignment would be to document something in purely black and white photographs. McNeely spent every day with Clinton with 3 Leica M5 cameras loaded with various B+W films a.k.a. “Living the Dream” His photos might be the most authentic thing I have ever seen. They are raw and beautiful. You have to check out his portfolio.

Here’s a shot of Aaron and I with “Bob” (as Clinton affectionately called him).
