Welcome to the Baumgartner-Benkendorfer Wedding

Yes you read it correctly, it was a wedding name combination that you only hear about in movies or on Jay Leno’s “Headlines”

Our dear friend Lisa Baumgartner got married to Brian Benkendorfer (99.9% sure on spelling) in January. This is a bit of a throwback post, but I just realized that I hadn’t posted anything on here about their wedding.

As I’ve mentioned before, I absolutely love photographing friends’ weddings, and it makes it even better when I get to travel to do so. My wife (who was a bridesmaid, so I had no assistance for the wedding…) and I flew out to Houston, TX for the weekend and had a great time reuniting with some old friends. Lisa and Brian are beautiful people, inside and out, so everything turned out wonderful photo-wise. Their engagement sessio, which we shot in downtown Birmingham turned out amazing as well.

Needless to say their images are plastered all over my portfolio, and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out.

See for yourself….

Here’s the Engagement Session Gallery

…and of course, The Wedding.

Leah & Adrian

If you’ve had the privilege of meeting or knowing Leah (Ballard) Frazier, consider yourself one of the lucky ones. If not, I will try to do my best to enlighten you on the rock star that is Leah.

I met Leah 8 years or so ago, and her personality and love of life in general immediately captured my attention. She loves life, every single aspect of life. Her enthusiasm is contagious. I was fortunate enough to work with Leah several summers, and only God knows how many people she had a positive impact on in those few months.

I wish I could describe the joy it brought me when she asked me to shoot her wedding and how bummed I was when I realized I was already booked on her wedding date. But leave it to Leah to completely change her plans and move her date so that I could be a part of it.

Needless to say I had a rockin’ time shooting her wedding. I had never had the chance to meet Adrian (her groom) before the wedding but knew that he was top notch solely based on the fact that Leah was his bride. These two are made for each other in a completely non-cliché way. I just hope everyone has the chance to meet them, or at least someone like them who can infect you with joy and pure awesomeness.

Please take a look at their images and get a taste of these two rock stars.

Meet Harley

For those of you who have never been to our house, I want you to meet our “Pride & Joy” Harley. Named solely on the fact that I’ve always wanted a Harley, but Sarah refuses to let me ride a motorcycle.

We got Harley almost 3 years ago and he has literally become like a child to us, as ridiculous as that may sound. I have never seen another dog like him. When we bought him, we expected him to look much different than what he looks like. His breed is an Olde English Bulldogge, which looks a lot like a typical bulldog without short stubby legs and a smashed in face, but as you can see he looks like a boxer/bulldog hybrid. We’re glad he turned out the way he did, I like having a unique dog.

He goes from acting like a 2 year-old to acting like he’s 84. Pictured below looking like my grandfather waiting impatiently for the mail to come.

He goes to bed at 10 o’clock sharp and never wants to wake up in the morning. He’s hyper and then immediately lazy. Sleeps well over 50% of the day.

Since I’ve started working from home, he’s become like a co-worker. He keeps me company, even if he’s curled up in the chair snoring. He also likes to “pose” in front of the backgrounds when I am setting them up, which can get annoying, but sometimes makes for some good photos.

Perfect Example….

I’ve also started a tradition of dressing him up for Halloween (I know…absurd. I don’t care!)
We usually send out a “fall” greeting card.

Here are the most recent two.

Well…I’ve gotta go. Harley just woke up from his afternoon nap (shocker) and has to go to the bathroom (again…shocker).
