Tuesdays with Harley

Due to the incredible response to my previous post on Harley (our 2 1/2 year-old Olde English Bulldogge), I’ve decided to start a new series dedicated to the ridiculous life of our ridiculous dog. Hopefully you will be entertained by these brief glimpses into Harley’s world.

For the first installment, it’s only appropriate to talk about Harley’s favorite activity…Sleeping

Harley sleeps sometimes close to 20 hours a day. There was a day in the fall when Harley fell asleep in the recliner (his favorite daytime resting place) and did not move for over 14 hours. His loud snoring assured me that he was not dead.

Here’s a typical 24 hour schedule for Harley:

7:30 AM- Door to his crate opened, He opens one eye and lets out an overly dramatic sigh to let you know he’s not ready to wake up

9:30 AM- Stumbles into my office, sits down next to me, I rub his head and scratch his back and then take him outside to go to the bathroom.

9:45-Noon- Sits in the chair next to window and watches traffic on Woodruff Road and naps in the recliner

*Right now it is 9:16AM and this is a photo of Harley at this very moment*

Noon-5:00- Sleeps outside, on top of his house (if it is good weather). If it’s raining…back to the recliner.

5:00-9:30- Lays on the rug in the living room and chews on a rawhide eventually falling asleep

Between 9:30 & 10PM- Comes up to me, paws my foot letting me know it is time to go to the bathroom and then straight to his crate for a long night’s sleep.

That’s it. Everyday. Ridiculous.

Will Harden

I photographed Will Harden last week at Falls Park.

Wesley and Caroline are good friends of ours, so I had a great time hanging out with them as we threw golf balls and made funny noises to get Will to smile.

The plan was to photograph Will sitting in the grass laughing and playing…one problem however, Will decided last Friday that he hated grass. Seriously, he had been playing in the grass the day before, according to Caroline, but this particular day he wanted no part of his body to touch the soft green stuff. Here’s an example of Will going Mission Impossible when Wesley tried to put him down on the grass.

Not to worry, I still managed to fire off 400+ frames, and we even got a few of him sitting in the grass.

I like shooting kids, they’re always unpredictable, so it keeps me on my toes and always makes for great stories.

Here’s the gallery. Enjoy!

Katherine Arnold Wolf

I am getting ready to leave for Columbia, SC for a bridal shoot, so I don’t have much time to post today, which is good because this post is so much more important than what’s happening in my world right now anyway.

Katherine Arnold Wolf, a friend from college, suffered something similar to a stroke Monday evening and is currently in a coma in the hospital at UCLA. Here husband Jason, was my neighbor and a good friend in college and they have a 6 month old son. I’m not clear on all of the details, but Jason’s sisters put together this video.

If you pray, please lift up Katherine, Jason, and their families.
